Why a pediatrician–IBCLC

One visit. A lactation expert and a children’s doctor.

Most feeding problems are about latch, positioning and confidence. Some have a medical cause. Here you don’t have to guess which — or see two different people to find out.

As your lactation consultant

  • Watch a full feed and fine-tune latch and positioning
  • Measure milk transfer with weighed feeds
  • Build a practical plan for supply, pumping or weaning

As your baby’s doctor

  • Examine your baby and recognise medical causes
  • Assess jaundice, weight gain and tongue function
  • Coordinate with your pediatrician, védőnő and specialists

How it works

Three simple steps to calmer feeds.

  1. Get in touch

Send a short message through the contact form, WhatsApp or e-mail. I reply within one working day to find a time that suits you.

  2. We meet

At your home, in the clinic or by video. I examine you and your baby, watch a feed and listen — there is no rush.

  3. Your plan, and follow-up

You receive a clear written plan in English, and I stay with you by message while you put it into practice.

New to Hungary?

Far from home, not on your own.

Having a baby in another country can feel lonely and confusing. I help you understand the local system — so you can focus on your baby.

  • Care in your language

Every consultation, plan and summary in clear English — with Hungarian when you need to talk to others.

  • Your védőnő and pediatrician

I explain what the health visitor system is, help you read growth records, and can share a summary with them.

  • Hospitals and paperwork

What to expect on a Hungarian maternity ward, what to ask for, and what the discharge papers actually say.

  • Practical, local know-how

Where to rent a hospital-grade pump, find a feeding-friendly café, or get a prescription filled in Budapest.

All questions

What is an IBCLC?

An International Board Certified Lactation Consultant is the highest internationally recognised qualification in breastfeeding and lactation care. It requires extensive clinical hours, a rigorous exam and regular recertification by the IBLCE in the USA.

Why see a pediatrician who is also a lactation consultant?

Lactation consultants are experts in feeding, but they cannot diagnose or treat medical problems. As a pediatrician I can also examine your baby, recognise medical causes behind feeding difficulties — such as jaundice, infections or slow weight gain — and coordinate with your other doctors. One visit covers both.

When should I book?

Ideally before your baby arrives, so we can make a plan together. After birth, the sooner the better — most difficulties are easiest to fix in the first days and weeks. You don’t need a referral.

How many visits will I need?

Many families need only one or two visits. More complex situations — such as slow weight gain or low supply — usually benefit from two or three, which is why the Fourth trimester package exists.

Home visit, clinic or online?

For a first consultation in the early weeks, a home visit is often best — you stay comfortable and I see feeding in your real environment. Clinic visits suit older babies and planned consultations. Online consultations work well for follow-ups, pumping plans and prenatal preparation.

I don’t speak Hungarian. Can you work with my védőnő and pediatrician?

Yes. I can explain Hungarian medical documents and growth records in English, and — with your permission — share a written summary with your health visitor (védőnő) or pediatrician so everyone is working from the same plan.
